The day after Halloween is when I start thinking about the special recipes I want to place on our Thanksgiving Dinner Menu, and Sweet Potato Casserole is always at the top of the list.

However, this year our Thanksgiving Day meal will only consist of the four of us so instead of making an entire Casserole, I decided that I would go this route instead.

I decided to make individual Sweet Potato Casseroles. Lucky for me, I found a great recipe by Robyn of the blog Add A Pinch. We shares simple, easy and delicious recipes for the everyday home cook along with plenty of discussion on life.

Family recipes are indeed an heirloom and learning to prepare them for my family is one of the greatest gifts I can share. I love to create recipes and try new things.

Sweet Potato Casserole with Sweet Pecan Topping
Yield: 12 servings | Cook Time: 30 minutes | Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Sweet Potato Ingredients

5 cups sweet potatoes, mashed
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 stick butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup milk
2 eggs

Topping Ingredients

1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup flour
1 cup chopped nuts
1 stick butter, melted

Step by Step Sweet Potato Casserole With Crunchy Pecan Topping

  1. Scrub and boil 5 medium sweet potatoes until tender. Cool, peel and mash. Add all other ingredients and mix well. Pour into large casserole dish or individual dishes.
  2. Mix all topping ingredients together and spread evenly over sweet potato mixture.
  3. Cook for 30 minutes until topping has browned. Remove from oven and serve.
